Is smoking discourage in Naval Avaition? If it is, at what point are smokers told to stop smoking. I have seen a couple pilots chew tobacoo and alot smoking cigars, but i have not really seen pilots smoking cigaretts. This also applieas to NFO's i mean aircrew.

Discouraged,

Yup, and rightfully so. Smoking interferes with ability to see at night, promotes hypoxia, interferes with ability to pull G's, and, perhaps worst of all, interferes with mr winky.

I have never heard of someone being told to quit smoking.

In the Marines you don't see as much smoking, more dipping. There are a lot of "drunk smokers," though. I've never seen anyone told to stop, other than in the sense of,"You can't smoke right here."
