slipped disk lower back

I might have a slipped disk in my lower back. I'm on active duty at the present time, but should I see a doc off base so it doesn't ruin my chances of getting medically DQ'd when the big wigs look over my medical records for OCS? Does it even affect my chances of getting selected if I have a slipped disk or something minor like that and get it taken care of? I know that surgery would not be required. If it was, I would pretty much know my chances would be nill.
