Granted I'm only final select and just waiting for my OCS date, but I'm reading some of these posts about selection now and I'm a bit confused....so help me out here.

Before, when you went through selection you basically got jets, props, or helos and started your respective advanced training....but now it looks like you have tailhooks and helos (and i guess the P-3s?). Tailhooks now include jets and E-2/C-2 guys and they train in the T-45 for Phase I and then are selected again for a specific pipeline? Is that correct....am I reading these posts right? Just looking for some clarification. I appreciate the help guys.

Bear, that is how Tailhook should be working when you get there.

TIMS is having some "issues" with it at the moment.

Won't be a factor for you.

You should have choices of:
Tailhook (Jets or E2C2 at the end of Phase 1)
Helos
Props (P3, EP-3, P8 in the distant future)
E6

SNFO's-out of primary can get P3s or E6's
-out of intermediate can get E2s
- out of advanced can get EA-6Bs or F/A-18s (USMC can just select these two)

Yeah......as Masterbates put it, that's how its supposed to be. However, for all of you primary studs out there who are thinking of writing Tailhook down thinking you'll get a chance at jets...... take a few extra minutes and make sure you're ok with any tailhook. I put down Tailhook and selected E2/C2. I was told that I got screwed because of how TIMS manages certain syllabi, and that the Tailhook syllabus still wasn't developed yet. Sounds a little strange to me, but I guess with TIMS anything is possible. In any case, just a word of advice to think twice before you put Tailhook down as you may end up in a similar situation.

Also, another way to look at it is if you get jets, but don't do so hot in ACM or Weps, you get a "2nd chance" by possibly switching to E2C2.

There is always 1 or 2 bubbas rolling around -31 in that boat.
