Hey again guys,

After some particular discussion with my father about this whole naval aviation thing (he fully supports me if I want to do it, he was an Ensign once flying T34s too), he suggested I go talk to a specific Naval Aviation Recruiter, and subsequently inquire about aircraft rides.

He told me that way back when (this would be '80 or '81), he got a couple rides in a high-performance aerobatic airplane to see if he enjoyed yanking and banking around, and whether it was something he still wanted to persue.

Personally, I'd love if something like that was still available, but I'm not sure it is, and I'm waiting for my recruiter to get back to me on it. Anyone know if stuff like that exists? Thanks much!

Dairycreamer,
I've heard the Marines have a recruiting program where they'll take people up in some sort of plane for a few minutes. Not sure if they still do that. If you know any active duty fliers with seniority, you can probably beg them for a squadron tour and some simulator time.

When I was being recruited (in 2000), the Marines took me up in a plane. It was arranged through my OSO. It was a civilian plane at the local airport. A Marine major was the pilot. I was hooked from that point on.

Yea, my friend that's an E-4 and has gone through his first increment of PLC has done the whole go up in a civilian plane. Said it was a twin engine, so something like a Baron or something, maybe? It was also arranged by his OSO.
