Mine and a lot of my friends report date to Pcola is 19Dec. Any idea if we will have leave during the holidays or how things work during that time? Thanks

Schools command takes a two week break from Christmas to New Year's. You might want to call the Quarterdeck or Student Control to see if you can find out the exact dates ahead of time.

Definately call Student Control and see what they say. And be prepared for your dates to change. The Lt. Is supposed to be calling out to have a lot of people come in a few months after what their orders currently read. A-Pool is up to about 300 people now, so he wants that to drop down.

Can anyone there say how long the average wait is for both pilots and FOs once they arrive in Pcola? I have heard horror stories that an SNA who arrives today will be waiting 6 months to class up. Can anyone confirm this or add to it?

Wow, 300 in the A-pool? How many are actually out there by McDonald's every morning doing their 5 minutes of work per day?

My report date is Nov 7. Will they have me start IFS right away, and if so will it be tough to get the required hours in considering the holidays? Also, anyone know the number to Student Control?

Ok, I mistakenly put down the wrong name. Student control deals with API students. Everyone checking in and stuck in A-Pool is run by Flight Management. The number there is 850-452-3542. I dont know how long it will take you to start IFS. Usually check-in is on a Friday, and the next week is spent doing physicals, PFT, briefs, etc. Then you wait for all that info to get sorted out and wait some more. Then you have to attend a week long class called BOLTC. Then you can attend IFS. However the 3 civilian flight schools in the area that take care of IFS have been kind of backed up lately. My friend had been all set to start IFS 3 seperate times and each time there wasnt enough room so about half the class got cancelled. IFS is about a 60 day program, and if people take the whole 60 days then it can get backed up. My roommate and I tied the record and finished it in 16.5 days. After you complete IFS, then you get put on the list to wait to start API.

As for how many people form up outside McDonalds every morning Im not sure. I am finishing up my 4th week of API and luckily dont have to deal with that anymore. However when they do the muster in front of the A-6, good luck parking. Its a freakin zoo with this many Ensigns wandering around lost. They are trying to give out stash jobs and such, but now Navy Postgrad School has decided there are too many people backed up and they are stepping in so to speak. If you read the post API class 0416 or whatever the class is, I tried to explain the situation in there. Good luck guys.

Thanks lowflier, that was the most direct info I have gotten so far. There are seven of us Ensigns doing TAD in San Diego right now. We all report right before the holidays and have no idea what to expect from IFS or when we are going to start. I am going to call that number and see what I can find out. Thanks again!
