Im in Army JROTC at my HS now and I just started as a junior, which sucks...because the highest rank I can get is a Staff SGT(E-5) and I know that I could get higher if I joined my Freshman year. So I was wondering how does NROTC ranking work..since hopefully I will be able to do it for 4 years.

In NROTC, ranks do not play an as important role as your position. Your true rank depends on what year you are; freshman, sophomore, etc. An example, the company’s command master chief is out rank by a platoon leader, but the CMC has a higher position and would be of someone senior in the company. Each semester you would rotate to a different position, sometimes higher or sometimes lower. Quite a different concept than in high school.
