Put 100 rounds down range to get the feel of the pistol, shot one mag off a cobbled together rest and shot 2.5 inch group at 25 yards. Then tried some 'serious' shooting (above)at 10 yards. I was pulling all the double taps low (note three in the neck and the two bottom nine and one eight ring), but I couldn't be happier! This pistol is MUCH more accurate than I am...

Of course, as soon as I started feeling good about MY shooting, I glance over a couple of lanes, there is a Dad with two daughters (9 and 11) and an AR-15 on the bench. Target comes back from 50 yards, all 9/10 ring, I compliment the Dad, he chuckles and says, "Oh that wasn't me, that was the 9 year old; she out shoots me all the time!"

So I wander back over to my lane, only to watch the guy on the other side of me start shooting the 1 inch Shoot n' See DOTS at 10 yards! sigh...

Humility restored, I packed up and exited with what was left of my tatters of dignity...

Nice shooting. 2.5 inch groups . . . Sheesh. I usually get 3-4 inches at least at 25yds. But my last formal training was 5yrs ago and I figure that's angle-of-bad-guy anyway. Now you're making me feel all inadequate . . . I'm getting outshot by a 9 year old girl? :icon_cryi

Nittany, this is an out and out custom pistol... The target I got from Bill after THEY shot it has all three touching at 25 yards...

Simply no better pistol than a Commander-length 1911.

Thanks for sharing the pics and story.

Can't tell in the shots...what is the base model it was built from? Almost looks like old Colt lettering on the right side of the frame.

That'll do it. I'll just keep slumming with my P229 until I get the coin to shell out for a nice 1911 myself. :icon_tong

And I missed the detail of the 9-year-old shooting an AR. From a bench rest. At only 50 yards. I feel better now, though I award myself a below for reading comprehension.

It was all built in house by Bill at Cylinder and Slide. They build their own frames and forged slides. I'm still on the road, so I can't look at it, but I'll tell you what it says when I get home. The logo on the slide is the C&S logo.
