Well, I just took advantage of the Radio Shack Iphone sale. Upgraded an Iphone 3G to Iphone 4. Got a $75 credit with trade in, and walked out the door with a new Iphone 4 16GB for $75 plus tax. I was eligible for the upgrade, and of course, this was the promo with the 2 year commitment.

Anyways, I grabbed the last one at the store I was at, a number of ppl walked in after me only to get turned away. Guess Radio Shack is running this through the 11th.

FYI, a good deal for those that want to upgrade their existing phone.

I learned about it on Engadget.com: http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/04/apple-iphone-4-legitimately-on-sale-for-the-first-time-50-of/

Now, still in the market for an iPhone 4? If so, you should probably point your vehicle to the nearest Radio Shack, STAT. For the first time since going on sale in June, Apple's iPhone 4 is legitimately on sale from a retailer that actually exists and won't sell your personal information to some goon in an offshore paradise you've never heard of. (No, Walmart's $2 savings doesn't count.) We're told that the $50-off sale is being done to ramp up awareness surrounding Radio Shack's (admittedly low-key) wireless business, and if we had to guess, we'd say it'll probably work to perfection. Ever since the handset began shipping this summer, the going rate was $199 (on contract) for the 16GB model or $299 (also on contract) for the 32GB flavor; this deal hacks $50 from each, and there's even an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $49 if you're looking to take things even lower. Better still, The Shack's offering a $75 trade-in credit on any functional / non-cracked iPhone 3G as well as $125 for a 3GS in like condition, meaning that you could walk in today, hand over your 3GS, and walk out with an iPhone 4 for $25 (plus activation fees). Naturally, the deal's only available in brick-and-mortar locations (read: not online), and the fun comes to a close on December 11th.

Hmmm...wife is in the zone for a new phone, has a good 3GS to trade (but you can also get $300+ for a 3GS on Ebay...). Decisions, decisions....

I may not stick with the iPhone when I'm eligible for an upgrade. I played with a droid, and it was definitely similar.

I like Apple's stuff, but I've had a bad taste in my mouth with the update fiascos for my 3GS ever since the 4 came out.

All that being said, this is a pretty tempting deal.

As a previous 3G owner, the 4 is like night and day compared to the 3G/3GS. Way faster, way more features. It's nice that Apple brings the new software to older phones, but the new stuff needs the new hardware. Also much better reception and less dropped calls on the 4.

I def recommend the Ebay thing. Buy the 4G for $150 without the credit then turn around and sell the old one on Ebay. I did that when I picked up the 3GS and paid for the phone plus $100 in my pocket.
