Other than IFS, will you have any flight experience going into primary?

For all of us who are either final select SNA or pro rec'd--Joboy, Tom, etc.: will you have any flight experience going into primary?

I have only about an hour, so I'm saying no for myself.

Is 25 hours an arbitrary #, or is that just the right amount of time you need to solo and get a private pilot's license?

MB, check the poll headline. He included IFS.

I plan to use the BDCP money to get hours this summer, not so much for skills at primary, as much as flying is fun, and it will be a good use of the money. I fly aerobatics with a retired Marine Col. down here from time to time, but that is again just for fun. I think the consensus is that the amount of hours we are talking about (say less then a 100, or even probably 200) won't have much of an impact vs. just having IFS.

I've read the debates about that on here and they're never-ending.
I posted this out of curiosity to see how many people there are like me who are trying to make a career out of something they've never really done before. I flew twice to see if I'd like it and it was a blast.

Its the number that Uncle Sam says you're gonna get.

Yes, you will solo.

No, you will not get your PPL in 25 hours.

My cousin is Mr. Rich doctor man and owns his own plane and takes me flying all the time. I havent really had and "official" flight lessons but he used to be an instructor and has showed me some stuff. Only about 30-some hours of flying though.

I hope we get a good sample size in the end.

I'm surprised to see that so far the majority are guys like me--people with no flight time. Here's to hoping we don't get halfway through flight school and then realize we hate to fly! :icon_zbee

I have seen that happen more than once...you will know by the end of Primary (at the latest) whether you like to fly or not, you can always DOR...

I'm just giving this a bump so we can maybe get a few more people who haven't seen it yet.

Does 50/50 sound about right? I always assumed I'd be in the minority with no flight time.

Have you considered the possibility that people aren't interested in your poll because, unlike you, they were able to draw their own conclusions from reading the bevy of related threads about IFS and flight experience. If you had really read and understood those threads, you wouldn't need a poll. Stop obsessing about it.

I had 11-1200 hours.
Something I did not know about Mr. Bates... What did you do pre-Naval Aviation?

Dude, are you in a bad mood today? Or are you just tired of the jack-assery posts?
