quick question

I did some searching but couldnt find much of an answer to my question. I have been reading about how everyone sits around waiting for API and Primary. Is it normal for these to be delayed and if so how long do people usually wait between OCS/API and API/Primary? Also, I know that it always varies depending on the situation... but when would I expect to go to OCS if I get a final select (SNA BDCP-graduate in May of 2007)?

i sifted through tons of posts and got some good answers. but this brought up another question. is the wait longer during the summer months with all the NROTC and USNA Grads starting up? if i graduate in may and head off to OCS within a few months i wont be in the a-pool until the fall/early winter. are the waits shorter then?

There are so many factors that such a question is hard to answer...one would need to see the statistics for several years in order to find the trends...I unfortunately don't have access to those...

The bottom line here is that you can't game it or control it in any way, so it's just something that has to be accepted as the cost of doing business.

From my experience, and the experiences of my friends, the later you get here in the summer, the longer you are going to wait to class up. The largest number of check-ins for A-pool are in August and September so that is when A-pool starts bursting at the seams. However, this could all change next summer when supposedly, all of IFS will be taking place in the Pensacola area. If this were the case, more people would be arriving early in the summer because they would not be authorized to complete IFS at their commissioning sites. Hope this helps.....

yes thanks. also... I am a flight instructor so do I have to do IFS? I was told that if you have prior flight time you most likely will be placed on an accelerated (a few less flights in primary). is that true?

Still learning how much I don't know.

You won't have to do IFS. Not sure about the Primary part and private hours for pilots.

The accelerated Primary track is VERY very rare...you will just have to wait till you get there...

I was on the accelerated track. I knew lots of guys that were. In my case they used it to maximize my time between flights to make PTR elsewhere. It took me the same amout of time (basically) to finish.

It wasn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Harrier_Dude, are the harriers that come up to gateway from your squadron? That is where I go to school and did all of my training.

Right now it's a 50/50 shot. I go there about every x/c. Very easy turn. There are onlt 2 squadrons not deployed at the moment. If you're referring to this weekend, then no, it was the other squadron.
