Question: Is it common (or possible even) for P-8 NFO’s to get stationed in Hawaii?

In 2011 on my last P-3 home cycle the Navy was trying to dispose of the VLADs quickly. Had a couple CTFs where our gunner loaded us full up with them and told us not to bring any home.

I thought I remembered they were trying to eliminate them. I don't quite understand why when they could still prove useful for VP in theater.

On the flip side, VLADs were all we could get from K-Bay BECAUSE of the P-3s. Seriously guys, you can't order some -53s?

Current VP guy. Never heard of VLAD before today. My guess is the 101/125 fulfills the long range detection role with beam forming, in addition to the improved tails on our surface friends.
