Question about scholarship funding.

I recently applied for the Tweedale Scholarship and the PNS nominated me for this scholarship. When I started the application process I thought that once the PNS made the nomination it was pretty much a done deal. During the interview I found out that the budget is very tight this year and the funding might not be approved for the scholarship. I have to wait for the final approval from NSTC before I actually receive a final answer. I started to research the Tweedale scholarship online and found a NSTC notice that explains the details of NROTC scholarships. If I understand this document correctly there will be no side load scholarships available until the fiscal year 2014. Am I reading this correctly? The information is found on page three. I am hoping that some scholarships will be award this year but this information makes that look unlikely. Has anyone else heard anything like this? The PNS of the unit said it is very rare to have the budget this tight. I knew that the college program scholarships were out of play for the next year but did not realize it affected all the three and two year scholarships the PNS possessed. Hopefully I will get some good news in a month or so and thanks for any help or information on this.

It depends on what "year group" means. If it's what I think it means, it is referring to those who will graduate in 2014. If that's true though, I didn't know they did side-load scholarship selection like that (completely off limits to YG13 for example, but 85 available for YG14). I'm probably reading it wrong though, so don't take my word for it.

I think I am reading it wrong too. I just assumed that year group was the fiscal year. That is most likely wrong. I can’t see how they would not have any side-load scholarships until 2014. This would include the PNS leadership scholarship and the Tweedale which appears to have been a guarantee before this year. The notice also states that it if for the academic year 2010-2011. I am guessing this means it takes effect next fall. But I might be wrong on that too. But that’s a big cut not having any side-loads for 2012 and 2013.

I received word today that I was selected for the Tweedale Scholarship. So the information I posted in this thread may be about something completely different. I will be on scholarship officially this upcoming fall at Auburn University. I didn’t think I had any chance of getting selected for this scholarship because of the current economy. I actually have my BDCP package going before the June boards. I am excited to get started this upcoming fall. This website really contains a large amount of useful information. That's interesting because the CO from Auburn swore up and down that the scholarship funding was at or close to zero. Maybe you were the very select few that got one or the funding has increased now. Either way, congratulations!

Back when I did the interview for the scholarship the CO told me the same thing. So I thought I had a very small or no chance of being selected because of the funding issues. All I know is I have been selected so I can't complain.
