A really stupid one, Black Friday question
Sooooooo, why the aircraft carrier is "the Boat"? My suggestion, given the facts that Bubbleheads call their fish "boats" too, some earlier aviators (or at least JCLs, just like ADM Ernest King) were dual-qualified ("winged dolphins"), is that: could it be the case of the more general intention to separate from the Shoe world with their "big guns" leaving the general term "ship" purely for them?

The gloves. Look at the picture: this is the carrier qual for C2A female pilot. Why the gloves of instructor in left seat have thumb, pointer and middle all naked while the rest two fingers are covered? Well, I can easily understand middle, but what about the rest?
