This may be a dumb question, but don't airports usually have preassigned holding patterns?

In this game (pretty fun BTW) you have to micromanage all the aircraft, but I thought in real life they all entered standardized holding patterns. (Obviously WRT the wind direction).

Hopefully I am not sounding too ridiculously ignorant of aviation.

I don't know if you can make them hold in the game or not. I'll send them out to a fix if I need them to burn time while waiting for someone to takeoff or land.

I haven't been able to find any holding pattern. I just try and send all the aircraft to an initial fix, slowing them down and descending them while I try and sequence them. It's the departures that are a pain in the ass... I'm pretty sure I've killed more people than ever in comair... whoops. Good thing I'm on this end of the radio... maybe??

I end up getting bored and try and have planes hit each other in the air. Good thing I'm this end of the radio as well...

Yea it doesn't work. What a load of crap. I lost interest quickly after I discovered I couldn't fail miserably. 14 hours to go...

Hilarious. That reminds me of the microsim. I tried it for about 5 minutes until I got fed up with not being able to trim and the shitty controls and commenced PA's at 100' AGL.

"Yea, I would strongly recommend staying away from those microsims..."

Those things were like communism. Great in theory, horrendous in practice.

I've gotten planes to hit each other at 3000 feet. I guess you just suck...

Dude you fail. You're not supposed to make the planes hit! What the hell!?

Oh yea, right. But seriously, besides the dots turning red, what the hell else happens?

Only one way for you to find out...

(You really can make them crash, and no, there are no sound effects to go along with it)

damn. that needs to be fixed. btw, please tell me you're on duty, as i am, or something... because otherwise that means that we've pretty much threadjacked this thing to talk about crashing imaginary planes in our free time...
