I run slow. My 3 mile on a good day is 26:00, normally hovers around 27:00. My PFT score is around 250. Where does that put me going into OCC? -My OSO says I'm fine and all I need to do is just keep going, but I wanted to know what anyone who has gone in the last few years has to say. Just want to know where I am, thanks!:D

The more you can do, the easier your life will be so there is no set answer to your question. All you do at OCS is run and when you aren't running, you are walking. If you are all worn out from the running then you will obviously hate life walking for the remainder of the day. The best way to improve your run time is to run up hills...this will do wonders for your PFT. If you don't have any hills around, hop on a treadmill and set a high incline or put on a weight belt before you go running. There is no other secret to becoming a better runner...its a matter of pratice.

wings - fear not. When I first joined the Army, I hadnt run farther than around the softball field for warm up. Half a mile and I was DONE. The best way to improve is to do intervals. Do them on the treadmill if you want - my two favorites are 6x1min intervals or 4x3min intervals. Make sure you do them faster than you would normally run - and do them every day, alternating between the run. I still weigh 170 and am 5'6", but I max my run every time with around a 15min 2 mile. Intervals are where its at. Keep movin.
