Once you finish OCS and TBS, when can you be promoted next? Can you be promoted while your an SNA or does that usually happen once your training's complete and you start your first tour of duty?

You pick up 1STLT 2 years after your DOR (date of rank) as 2NDLT. Because of TBS and waiting this happens often for Marines while at flight school.

After 2 years as a 2ndLt you are promoted to a 1stLt. Your promotion date will be 2 years from your commissioning date. And no, it dosen't matter if you are in a training status. A ton of us got promoted while we were still in flight school.

I beat you by 20 seconds. Very strong. Your DOR can actually be different than your commissioning date. especially if you get commissioned in May (date of rank corresponds with naval academy's graduation).

Obviously not a big deal. . . just a technicality.[^]
