Okay a little background...

I was a grunt from '93-97 with 2nd Bn, 3rd Marines. Got out as a corporal after 4 years. Went to college, learned to fly, and currently working as a flight instructor with quite a few hours.

I've been looking for an airline job, but always wanted to fly fighters. The reason I never pursued it is because I have a color deficiency in my vision. Not fully colorblind, just a deficiency. I had pass an alternate color test to get a waiver on my FAA medical. Passed it with no problems. Otherwise my vision is 20/20.

The other kicker is that I turn 30 next month.

I have recently heard that with prior service I could still get an age waiver. Anyone know if they will accept an alternate color blind test?

What are the chances???

Thanks
Ned

I don't see your age being a problem for you. As for the color vision. . . see:

http://www.nomi.med.navy.mil/NAMI/WaiverGuideTopics/ophthalmology.htm#Color_Vision_Abn

(those are underscores between Color_Vision_Abn)

Gotta pass 12 of 14 plates to get an air contract.
