Does any one know if a civilian can get a PPR to fly into NAS Pensacola to visit the Museum?

Call Air Ops at NASP. There is a procedure for allowing civilian airplanes to land at a military base. Not sure of the current restrictions, but they can give you guidance. Generally it has to be for official business, but they can always make exceptions, especially at a base like NASP that has an open door policy for people visiting the museum.

That said, NASP and NASWF are a major reason why Pensacola airspace is so crowded. Many many orange and white (and blue) a/c buzzing around. They very well likely may not have space. A better bet might be landing at PNS or Ferguson and getting a taxi. But hey, the worst that could happen if you ask is getting told no.

Thanks, I'll give them a call. I'm sure the OOD is bored and won't mind talking to me. I asked here first to make sure it wasn't too stupid a question to ask in this post 9-11 world.

In the time I was at NPA the only civilian a/c I ever saw land there with a PPR were for the airshow. Other than that, I am almost certain that it wouldn't happen -- too crowded on the ramp and a very high volume of much faster aircraft.

Not to insult what you might be flying, but I don't even think Sherman has 100LL? I'd personally go into Regional and use their courtesy car if you had business at NASP.

I'll second/third going into Furguson... really close to the back gate of NASP and you don't need to go through the BS of getting a PPR...

PNS's "courtesy" car is a ripoff. It's like $10-20/hr after the first 30 minutes with a maximum of I think two hours.

That isn't a courtesy car then. It's a rental with a shitty rate.
Exactly. A classmate and I flew our airnav XCs down to PNS in Advanced. Plan was to meet his g/f, grab lunch and traipse around town. Unforeseen relationship drama on his part leaves me hanging, so I figured I'd grab the courtesy car, check out the museum and see what's new around town. Once I saw the crappy rates (didn't have my personal credit card on me, just $20 and the fuel card), this turned into a trip to Firehouse Subs and wheels up back to NMM. So much for having my own Goshawk for the day. :icon_rage
