power source for CDI in T34C

Does any body know what the power source(s) for the CDI in the T34 are. Can't find them in the NATOPS, systems text, or FTI.

The needle itself is powered by 26vac
THe TACAN or VOR recievers that feed the gauge are 28vdc, I believe.

BTW, methinks you're gonna get flamed for getting answers on AW. There are ALOT of instructors around here.

While he may be in for a Flambe tomorrow, if someone comes looking for an answer, and we tell them WHERE to find it (be it MIMs, hidden somewhere in NATOPS)

That being said, I just checked my NATOPS and I cannot find what powers it either..

Very well then....

According to the official T34C instument panel poster I was given from book issue:

Item 16. CDI (repeat VOR/tacan info from RMI)
Item 12. RMI (28VDC & 26VAC)

Furthermore, I know from systems class that the 26vac powers the needle itself. Logic dictates that 28vdc is not needed to swing that little needle. All radio and avionics equipment is DC, to include the VOR/Tacan recievers, hence the 28VDC pwr source.

No reason any instructor should give him any greif for that question, at least he's gonna be prepared in the brief!! Honestly we all know there is only one type of instructor who would ask a question like that...haha

Wait, get flamed for asking for help on AW? Isnt that what this site was developed for in the first place? So students could have a resource for help duriing flight school?

I think AW is the gouge behind the gouge. I don't think it's a sanctioned reference pub. Maybe things are changing.

Do you think most SNA's use AW and is it talked about in the ready rooms?

I wouldn't call AW the gouge behind the gouge... I don't see a problem with his question either. The way I view AW (and questions like his) is as a "virtual ready room." Perhaps he asked all of his classmates, and they couldn't figure it out. If nothing else, he shouldn't be fried for using all available resources in order to be prepared for his brief. As long as he remembers "live by the gouge, die by the gouge..." Any time I got an answer that I didn't find on my own, I'd always ask for a reference.

If he posted a question, but was told, hey, it's pretty hard to find, but it's on page 11-14 in the T-34C NATOPS, he is being told WHERE to get the answer.

Malice1 directed him to the issued poster and systems manual, which MAY be the best answer once can find (we don't have posters down here in Mexico)

It sounds like there should be a sticky: What and what not is AirWarriors.com

Anyway, if you think of AW as simply gouge... consider this:

*Cross-platform aviators talking with a lot more consistency about safety-related issues... something the Safety Center would envy (or appreciate).

*Seasoned active aviators and NFOs providing lessons you couldn't get in a gouge guide. This includes career moves, issues facing officers in the ready room, and overall good/bad experiences to learn from. If only CNET could get this much participation.

*Students to discuss issues like the one posted above. (are the mims easy to get ahold of in primary land? Master- follow up on that one, would ya?)

So yeah, this place is gouge, but it's damn good gouge if you use it.

To follow up, sir, I would also like to add why I think that this site is a great place for gouge. Things can change fast and gouge that gets passed down can become obsolete before the person using it knows it. This site offers up-to-date gouge on all topics covered. You have a very high chance at getting good, accurate stuff on everything from flight gouge to that unspoken gouge that every good flyin man needs to know.

Check again...I had one during primary that showed the cockpit instruments and told the power source for every one of them.

The MIMs, per se, aren't easy to get your hands on, but all you have to do is go over to aircraft issue and ask to talk to someone about a system. They'll point you to a TS or maintainer and they'll help you a bunch.

Roger that. Thanks for the info... what do you instructors do for your IUT? I'm not talking about the flights/syllabus, but for general knowledge of the aircaft.
