Places to live in Corpus

I'm heading out to Corpus in a couple months for primary and I was wondering if anybody has some good gouge on places to live in Corpus. I rented a house here in P-cola and really liked that compared to an apartment, esp. because I have a yellow lab and having a yard was key, so if anybody knows good resources for finding rental houses that would be awesome.

Best bet, and what most people do, is a 3 person house or condo out on the island. It's usually $1,000-1,700 for a 3 bedroom on the canal with garage and even a boat slip/lift. Most of the rental agencies on the island are pretty cooperative, only ones I've heard negative things about are REMAX and Realty World, but they all have offices along the main road thru the island. As far as a yard goes, seems like just a case by case basis. PM me if you need any more specific info.

Coastline Properties was pretty good when I was there. And as has been said, LIVE ON THE ISLAND.

I live on the southside (south of Holly west of Staples) and I don't feel like I'm missing much by living here, and if I forgot something at the commissary, the store is right down the street vice a 20 minute drive down SPID.

I'll check the postings on the bulletin board at the wing building tomorrow and send you a PM.

I don't know what island you drove from to get to HEB, I never had a 20 minute drive, more like 10. And never any of that traffic on SPID btwn Staples and Everhart.

The pest guy has come twice in the 2 mo I have lived here with my husband.

Welcome to South Texas...our exterminator told us the standard interval for spraying is every month. Not saying that those apartments don't have an ant problem, but every month is typical down here.

Ditto everyone who says the island is good. I had very good luck with the rental lady at Coldwell Banker Realty.

It is not a 20 minute drive to anything here. As a matter of fact I can be at Staples where othromas lives in 20 minutes. The nearest HEB is 8 minutes and there are convienience stores on the island. Live on the island.

That new Circle K they opened last year at PR 22 and Whitecap is awesome, as far as convenience stores go. Steaks at a gas station? Hell yeah.

Boq??

Has anyone stayed or heard of anyone staying at the BOQ in Corpus, good or bad idea. I am headed down there in a few weeks and trying to get an idea on where to live? Didnt know if the BOQ would be a good idea or not. Any advice?

I lived at Baypoint and loved it, community was awesome, great view, management was very professional and pretty easy to work with. The only gripe I really had was the kitchen was pretty small. I think we were paying 1275 for a 3 BR with water view. The pool area was money. Highly recommend you check it out if you can.

I lived in the Q at Corpus while I was there. It is not very common for students, but there I was never the only student living there. It is mostly the enlisted folks. I actually liked it despite getting crap from people about living on base. I was a 2 minute walk to the exchange and commissary, absolutely no traffic in the mornings, could get out of bed and be either at the squadron or sim building in no kidding like 10 minutes. I also filled up my car only once every two or three weeks, and was exactly halfway between the guys on the island with houses and boats and those that had apartments along SPID. So, take it for what it's worth. Oh, and if you are concerned about saving money by splitting rent out in town, I have no idea if its worth it or not. I am assuming bills/gas/doing yardwork and stuff make the difference in cash only a minor thing, unless of course you have a really incredible deal. But hey, that's just me. Good luck down there.
