Per Diem at API?

I've got PSC orders from San Diego to Milton (Whiting) with an Intermediate Stop in P-Cola for API. Does anyone know if I'll be entitled per diem, or will I have to stay in the BOQ? I know that I'll still be getting my San Diego BAH (because of my wife and son) until I get to Whiting.

Jeffrey,
I am pretty sure that you will not be getting per diem if you are getting BAH and you have taken orders that keep you in the area for primary. The guy to ask is Mr. Walters at PSD. He can explain all of that stuff to you and probably should have when you got your orders to API.

Well, if you don't get per diem, then you shouldn't get charged for staying in the Q. Although NAS Whiting and NAS Pensacola are in the "same geographical region," the two are not close to each other. That would be comparable to having orders to a ship here in San Diego with a Duty Under Instruction stop up at Camp Pendelton. In fact, the driving time is greater when going between Whiting and Pensacola than between San Diego and Camp Pendelton. In any event, you should be compensated in one fashion or another. Whether the Navy wants to call it Per Diem or something else entirely is of course up to them.
