When you filled out the Personal Property sheet so you can move your household goods to your duty station, did most people request direct delivery of their personal property to the desintation listed? I requested a pack/pick up on 24 Aug, I commission 27 Aug, then leave the next day. Is it possible for my stuff to arrive in P'cola before I do? If so, where will it be stored? Just curious how this whole shipping stuff works. Any input would be great.

It all depends on the driver/company, and what other pickups/dropoffs they have. I usually exchange cell #s with the driver so we can get there at about the same time. If the driver shows up to TMO and can't find you within 3 hours, your stuff goes into storage. Then you have to schedule with TMO to get another company to get your stuff out of storage and to your new place.

The military will usually have a contract with a local storage facility. If the driver puts your HHG into storage, it can take TMO up to 10 days to schedule a moving company for you.

TMO is always fun to deal with.

Fezz, be aware that (as of two weeks ago anyway) that the Pensacola area was saturated. Nothing could go into storage in the area, everything was being sent out of the area. Our driver screwed up and took our stuff to Pensacola anyway even though we (and the Pensacola property office) told him not to. The prop office predicted a 2-4 week wait for delivery from an out of area storage facility.
So it was his (the driver's) responsibility to find somewhere to put it...out of the area. Luckily his company managed to get our shipment put in storage in Dothan, AL and we were able to get it within a week. Just so you know...

Oh man. Yea, i plan on being in constant contact with my mover peeps so I dont have my crap but on the curb. Should i find my own storage, or does the navy do that in p'cola?

I have a friend ill be crashing with @ Hunters Point until i can find a place of my own. So who exactly tells the movers where to put my goods if there isnt any place avail. in P'cola?
