time to take it in since there's no way it should be taking a slalom skier 30 seconds to get up when it used to take 5. Thanks
Sounds like yer skier needs to lose some weight!
This guy has some great info, and his site is directed towards the DIY boater.

I have only been to one shop in Pensacola, and that was Doc's Marine out by the fairgrounds. They "supposedly" have a good mechanic. I had an older Mercury 40 HP (1973) that needed some work.
I brought it to the store fully ready to spend a few hundred there. He said "we can't fix that, it's too old, and it would cost you $1300"
And then he charged me $85 for looking at it.
Well, I had a buddy that had worked on his motorcycles, so between him and I and $20 worth of carb seals/ a new float, some fuel line and 2 wires I got that boat running myself.
So I am a little jaded about Docs.
Sounds to me like you need to check the compression, maybe rebuild the carb (pretty easy to do) maybe replace some fuel lines (they get nasty on the inside)
The aforementioned Mastertech site gives a lot of good diagnostic tools. Feel free to PM me if you want any more ideas from me.
