Don't get caught speeding/etc at NAS Pensacola. The hammer is coming down hard. From the base CO:

- Speeding 21+ mph over posted limit = 30 day suspension
- Speeding in high student concentration / marching areas (ARSS pool from Radford Blvd and Turner St to Jayne Avenue)
10 mph over = 7 day suspension / 10+ mph Over = 14 day suspension
- Speeding in Base Housing = 7 day suspension
- Fleeing / Attempting to elude a LEO = 1 year suspension
- Racing on roadway = 1 year suspension
- Possession / Use of illegal drugs (or other intoxicating substances, i.e. huffing) while driving = 1 year suspension
- Failure to use child restraint system = 30 day suspension
- Littering (including cigarette butts) = 7 day suspension
- Driving while operating a Cell Phone w/o Hands-Free device* / Illegal Handicap Parking / failure to use seatbelt:
+ 1st violation = 7 day suspension
+ 2nd violation = 30 day suspension
+ 3rd violation = 6 month suspension
* Approved hands-free device: to be approved, both hands have to be on the steering wheel.
- Operating A Motorcycle Without All Required Personal Protective Equipment On Or Off Base.
+ 1st violation = 7 day suspension
+ 2nd violation = 30 day suspension

Not really too bad compared to the few other bases I have driven any amount on. I would like to see someone get 1/2 mile onto base here in Corpus going 10 over the posted limit w/o getting pulled over and detained. Wonder if this has anything to do w/ the ENS who supposedly almost ran the NASP base skipper over while he was getting the morning mail. Same kid who gave the base CO the finger as well anyone?

I'm glad he set the record straight on the "huffing" while driving. Has NAS Pensacola had a rash of traffic incidences?

That looks like it came straight from the powerpoint.

Yes, yes it did.

We do have a lot of KIDS on this base...We had problems with huffing in Iraq. These speed changes were probably brought on by the ENS at the gas station flipping off the base CO, as MIDNJAC stated above.

I feel that the punishments are a bit harsh. Come on, 10 miles an hour over the speed limit in a 25mph zone and I lose my base driving privileges for a week? I know that there would be a public outcry if they tried to enforce this out in town. Oh yeah, I forgot, it's a privilege to drive on base. B/S.

Ah, A-pool. Where Ensigns who never should have been make life difficult for everyone else as they weed themselves out of the Navy before classing up.

At least they got rid of that retarded stop sign at the crosswalk in front of the head shed.

Jesus, that's actually pretty weak. My wife's best friend got pulled over on base last week doing 53 in a 35 (18 mph over) and was escorted off base. She can't drive on base for 90 days and her husband (an enlisted Marine) has to keep a red sticker with "SW" on it on all of their vehicles, identifying his "Suspended Wife". If she gets caught driving on base or trying to get on base during that time, it's immediate restriction for a year!

Is there some law that says that you can't be fined for traffic infractions on base, hence all the suspensions?

At least he can DRIVE on base. I had my driving "privileges" suspended for 30 days at NAVSTA Mayport because my ex parked in the Base CO/Flag/Other bigwig parking spot. FOUR TIMES.

She thought a handicapped placard trumped Base CO or other bigwig parking.
Of course because she was "Disabled" and her doc was on base, they could not suspend her driving privileges totally.

I had to park at the lot at Wonderwood & A1A, and ride my bicycle in for a week or so. The rest of the time I was suspended I was on COMPTUEX.

The funny part is if they scrape my sticker at NASP, I can still get on base using my driver's license due to the Air Museum. ANYONE can come on base at NASP. :D

If that is the case, why isn't the Club standing room only full of local women on Wed-Thurs-Fri nights?

Get on that you slackers!
