Since there is no new member’s forum, I feel this was the necessary area for this post. I would first off like to introduce myself. My name is David, a 20 year old (21 on Feb 25th) from Southeast Michigan who is a future aviator. Since the age of 9, I've wanted to be a pilot for the US Navy since I saw a Tomcat go zipping past my head at 400 knots. As I went into Junior High though, I got involved with a girl who really messed up my life and my life’s plans. I went through some rough times (No drugs or alcohol. To this day, I am still clean. Haven’t smoked ANYTHING.), but I am now back on track, and working my way back toward my life’s dreams.
When I met this girl in Junior High, she, along with the death of my close grandfather who was former Navy, put me into a downward spiral of not attending school or doing my homework. I was too involved with this female to actually want to do anything, but spend time with her. But that is well gone and past me, as I am now in my 2nd semester of my freshman year at my local community college. At the end of this semester, I will be transferring to Western Michigan University to get my Bachelor of Science Degree, with a double major in Aviation Flight Science and Aviation Business and Administration. Even though I am fairly new to college, I have been speaking with Chief XXXX out of East Lansing, Michigan, which is how I found this site. For the last week, I have dug into every section and read over 500 threads on this forum. I have increased my knowledge by ten-fold, and further strengthened my dreams of doing this as my life career. I have 3 major hobbies, and those are cars, computers, and aviation. With a father who is pushing me into computers, I am still adamant on becoming a U.S. Naval pilot.
But I will close this thread now, but expressing my appreciation and gratitude for all who contributed to these forums with their valuable information, and for those who are currently flying for the U.S. Navy. I look forward to serving with you gentlemen in 4 years.
