Needing advice from those who have been there

My boyfriend is on track to become a Marine pilot and I'm trying to collect as much information as I can about what to expect during the whole process. I don't know whether to brace myself for 2-3 years of him having a very difficult work load, a lot of stress and not much time to think about anything but studying or if he will get some downtime and a chance for me to visit without being a distraction and potentially ruin his future career chances. Basic info would also be appreciated (like how long is it).

I just want to be as helpful as I can so I wanted to get some first hand advice.
