Was wondering if somebody could give me some information on how the reserves work, is it possible to become a pilot and then serve in the reserves? How would this compare to something like the ANG? Thanks,

2. No, there isn't a direct commission pilot route

You will need to be a winged aviator of another service and then go through an interservice transfer.
 
Aviators in the Navy Reserve either come from the active duty Navy or transfer from other services. We don't direct-commission into aviation. If that's the route you're interested in, that's the ANG.
