ENSsquid - don't forget to subtract for the BAK-12s at either end at Eglin. You'd look pretty stupid pranging your nosewheel on one of those. :icon_tong
Yeah, though, Eglin is nice for learning landings. Plenty of room to balloon if you hold in too much airspeed on final. I remember flying into Atmore on my first IFS XC and thinking "oh my God, the runway's so short!" (All 6000' of it!)
Speaking of places to fly (and short runways), those with a PPL should check out Dauphin Island. It's a neat little field on the other side of Mobile Bay, and they have a seafood restaurant w/ a free shuttle from the airfield. Took my parents there on my first flight with passengers!
