Interesting, this legislation, or some type, apparently has been around since about 95. I can only hope that it passes.
Right ... I'm SURE it will pass with 2nd Amendment scholars in charge like Schumer , Pelosi, Kennedy, Feinstein, Reid, Durbin, Boxer, Murray, Clinton, .... I'm exhausted, and that's just on the Senate side ...

Then we need to consider the House; Conyers, Rangel, Nadler, McKinney, Waters, Maloney ... I give up, the list is too long.

Too bad it wasn't introduced a few years ago ... timing is everything.

It would be a great thing, but right now I think the NRA and gun owners in general will be adopting a defensive mindset, until '08 at least.

Imagine if your drivers license only was good in 30 or so states (if you were lucky) and the rules regarding driving changed drastically when you cross the state line.

I find it odd that the PRIVILEGE of driving has less restrictions than the RIGHT to bear arms.

Imagine the firestorm that would erupt if all of a sudden you needed a 15-day waiting period before you could purchase a car; cars were required to be manufactured with "internal safety locks" that added extra steps to get normal operation; as MB stated, you were required to change how you used your car (and not just the speed) as you crossed state lines; you faced a mandatory prison sentence if you used your car in the commission of a crime ("10-20-Life"); fast, high-performance cars were declared illegal; etc.

As a wise man once said, "Good times." :D

We have Interstate Highways, we should standardize the rules of the road. For some reason up here in BFE a left turn without a no u-turn sign does not imply you can do a u-turn as it does in CA.

That and motorcycles can't lane share.

That also being said, if we could get the rest of the states to adopt BFE's gun laws, there'd be no need for this thread.

Very astute observation, young-ish Marine .... :D

While fighting the battle to arm commericial airline pilots in and out of the halls of DC, and while dealing with the media, the ALPA "leadership" of the period, and with the airline managements .... one thing stood out quite clearly amid all the hype, hysteria, and demagogic prattle:

.....it really wasn't about PRIVILEDGEs or RIGHTs ... and most certainly not about protecting the airplane, the pax and crew .... it was all about ... CONTROL.

Believe it ...

CONTROL

Not unlike the "Passenger's Bill of Rights" (apparently air travel is a "right" now).

However, that is a different can o' worms that need not be opened right now.

What do you use supressors for? Are they just to save your ears?
Hearing friendly ... well, that's one reason ... and I'd like to have them available so as not to "upset" the neighbors down the road when I choose to plink on my own property.

I think it was Squeeze who said something to the effect of: "Suppressors are quite common in Europe for hunting and target shooting .... here in the US people think you are an ASSASSIN if you have one or want one .... "

Try not to get too much of your firearms information and knowledge from Hollywood, eddie ... ;)
