moving (looking to rent/buy in) to corpus

I'm moving to Corpus for primary in about a month. Wondering: does anyone have any good leads on a house on Padre that might be for sale, rent or lease? Let me know. thanks.

There's always houses for rent out here. I went thru www.coastlineproperties.com, and have no complaints. There's always houses for sale out here too, they build new ones all the time. A good idea is to just drive around the island once you get here and write down numbers on signs. The houses for sale on the canals/water are 3-4x those not on the water, usu 300k or more. But there is no shortage of places out here. Good luck.

You should have some time before starting up to find a place to live - hopefully 2-3 wks. Best thing is like greg said - drive around and look for signs.

Corpus might not be the best palce to start buying houses, though - esp on the island. Property taxes and insurance here are pretty rough, from what I understand.

Yeah I'd agree with snizo on buying, the insurance on the island is prolly high, what with the hurricane potential and all. But on the other side, property values here have nowhere to go but up, if the past is any indicator.

thanks for the info. i ran across that website. i sure will check it out again though. yea i'm pretty interested in teh corpus/padre real estate surge, from an investors stand point. i have a few creative financing/tax ideas but thats neither here nor there. i'll have to rent at first so, thanks again for the info. my ears are still open for any other suggestions.
