The FAA doesn't give a shit about us.

Let's keep it that way.

The IP is on another board I'm a member of; he's being crucified in the court of public opinion. The darts are being thrown for smoking (e-cig), cursing, not briefing his intent, setting a poor example for his stud, etc, etc, etc.

My opinion? IDGAF. I'm going to cheer his airmanship and (God forbid) the fact that he has fun at his job. I'm not going to MMQB him. (I'll leave that to Harrier Dude ;) )

Repost!

Now that that's out of the way...

The FAA doesn't give a shit about us.

Ironically, you're right. There was a blurb in last week's AOPA e-thingy I get talking about things like this, and it seems the biggest problem is city zoning/ordinance (note: not the blowing up kind). Apparently the FAA is less concerned about landing on someone's private property than a local city. I guess I can see that, but really, what's the point of whirly-ing it around the place?

[anecdote]

One day when I was in middle school, I was coming home from a friends house who lived off of Weems Creek in Annapolis with my parents. I'm pretty sure we were on Ridgely Ave passed by some nice restaurant. I can't find the place now on Google Maps, so it may be gone, but at the time, the place had a decent size parking lot. That particular evening, there was a 206 Long Ranger parked in one of the spots. Obviously out for an evening meal. Of course my parents stopped so I could go fog up the windows, but it was just the first taste of helo life at the early age of (I don't know, let's say....) 11.

That was awesome. Seems like a guy who just generally likes flying and enjoys the shit out of it.

Favorite line:
"Damn, how'd you see that?"
"I see everything."

Yeah, they're tearing him up. Bunch of Frank Robbie GA disciples who fly By The Book.

Get a life.

I'm not going to MMQB him. (I'll leave that to Harrier Dude ;) )

How'd I get dragged into this? I mean, clearly this man has zero regard for safety, but can you blame him when the FAA has yet to formally integrate TRA on a national level?

SAFETY VIOLATOR!!!!!!

Based on where the camera is mounted, and the shadow - I'm saying it's an R-22.

I also thought so at first but towards the end the guy in the left seat appears to turn around and speak to someone behind him. Hence, R-44. I've been wrong before.... Hmmm, what year was that???
