I just signed my final select letters earlier today and will be headed off to Newport, Rhode Island on July 8th. I have some concerns about my flight physical however. I've already went through my MEPS physical and everything went very smooth. Getting there was a challenge though. A brief history:
I was PDQ'd for...
-Bankart Repair on my right shoulder - Feb. 2007
-"Knee instability" (from a childhood injury, but no pain or surgery ever) - History
-Childhood Asthma - History
I had my methacholine challenge test and show absolutely no signs of asthma and my waiver went through no problem. I also had an orthopedic consult to examine both my knee and shoulder and both came back with 100% strength, mobility, and flexibility. He wrote a very thorough report with regards to both joints with nothing negative to say about either; both of these waivers went though no problem and I was cleared for MEPS.
I naturally have 12/20 vision in my Left eye and 13/20 in my right. I've never failed an eye exam for depth perception, but I've heard that the cards they use at your flight physical are MUCH more challenging than any other test I may have taken?
What are the main differences between MEPS and my future flight physical. I'm in great shape and have been working extremely hard in preparation for OCS. Should I be worried about my medical history or am i just overthinking this entire thing?
