Med waiver for already cleared condition?

I just got finished with my trip to MEPS. Everything went well, passed the physical, no issues with the duck walk etc but i have been recommended for a waiver for a minor issue with my knee that happened over 2 years ago. I had an impact injury with fluid on my knee. No sugery was needed, all I went through was physical therapy and rest. I have since been cleared by an ortho specialist at 100% normal operation (med officer has all supporting documentation) and like I said before I had no issues during the screening process at MEPS nor have I had any reacurring issues at all with this minor injury.

So why am I being asked for a waiver for a condition that has already been cleared and not reacurring? And what are my chances of getting this waiver?
Also is there anything that I can do on my end to help this process move smoothly? As I understand if this comes back denied then I'm done, Ive worked too hard for something so small to DQ me.

Since its such a minor issue I'm hoping that my chances are pretty good but I'm still nervous since I've worked so hard to get to this point to have a possible nonissue DQ me.

Btw I'm applying for Navy OCS

Did the MEPS doctor mark "qualified for service" or "not qualified for service"?

He may just not want to be the guy putting his license on the line and instead defer to Navy Medicine who has to make the calls on officers anyway.

It is pretty minor and I think the most likely outcome will be no need for a waiver. IF you do need a waiver, the process will be very simple...a few pokes and prods, ROM test, strength test and pain discussion. Your particular waiver process should be nothing more than a paperwork drill.

WRT what you can do...bring the supporting paperwork from the ortho doc.

DQ...I just don't see that happening at all.

I was marked not cleared for service based on the waiver. The thing that gets me is I have all supporting paperwork from the ortho clearing me of the injury, it specifically states "cleared at 100% normal function". The doc asked if I've had any problems since, I said none, he then looked at my right knee which consisted of "let me see your knee" and a quick glance I'm assuming to check for surgery scars but no range of motion test no pain test nothing outside of the basic "underwear Olympics" in the main room. I did drop on my knees and walk across the floor on them with no issues but the doc who gave me the physical and recommended the waiver wasn't even in the room. Guess I'm just confused, I think they're making a big deal out of what I've already shown is a non issue. The only thing that worries me is my recruiter seemed a bit concerned like this wasn't just an easy hurdle. But thanks for putting my mind at ease, I guess I'll just have to wait a few days and see what happens.

He probably just doesn't want to make the call, I wouldn't worry about it, N3M may waive you without a consult, they did that we a couple of my people that had retained hardware.

Oh forgot to add it was a workers comp on the job injury, not sure if this makes any difference but they did question me about it. The good part is they did have me finish off the MEPS process, finger print, blood draw, all that fun stuff. I guess if this was a major issue they probably would have me come back and do the rest after I got the waiver.

Cool thanks, yea a few years ago my buddy was cleared for the Marine Corps with a plate in his head, hopefully they haven't gotten too much more selective since then
