He was a couple classes behind me at VMFAT-101 when we were cat 1's. I didn't know him super well, but he was a great dude from what I remember. I can't imagine what his wife and kids dealt with this weekend. ?

It’s never easy at all. My close friend and neighbor too was an Marine F-18 pilot at Miramar. Came back from Iraq deployment 2003, we barBQ’d to catch up that Friday, he went out that weekend for a quick hop thru the desert w his team, and I’ll never forget coming outside Monday morning on my way down to Coronado and the unmarked car w the chaplain pulled up, they were walking to his wife’s door. My heart hit the deck. At that moment I knew all I needed to know. I only pray that nobody has to witness that in their time.
