Marine ECP program

Can someone hook me up with the requirements and basic overview of the Marine ECP? I have a working knowledge of all of the other commissioning programs, but a PFC was talking to me in the gym the other day about getting commissioned through the ECP program (he already has his degree), and I didn't really know anything about it. if i see him in there again, i want an answer for him next time.

also, a LCpl i went to college with ran into me at a bar a few weeks ago and was asking me about the MECEP program. now, i'm relatively familier with how MECEP works, but he said that he was told by a Major that you can get accepted to it as a LCpl now (instead of Cpl). i told him that i thought you had to be a Cpl, but maybe they changed it, or maybe you can start applying as a LCpl, but have to make Cpl before you can be accepted. anyone have a definitive answer there?

thanks for the confirmation on MECEP.

so the ECP is handled through an OSO? that's what i figured...only thing that made sense, but i worked PTAD in an OSO office for 2 months and never heard of anyone doing the ECP thing through there. i guess the better question is how does it differ from anyone else going OCC?

(i'll have to look at that MCO on my roommate's PC. just reformatted, don't have PDF reader on mine yet, and don't feel like loading it now.)

ECP is for active duty, not civilian (there is also a Reserve ECP). Same with MCP. They apply from their unit, using the chain of command, not an OSO.
