I'm on the way to Oceana and looking for a place in Va Beach, or maybe the Chick's beach area. I'm a single guy and I'll probably be living with a roommate so I need a place with at least 2 bedrooms and a 2 bathrooms. I'd prefer a townhouse but would consider a condo. I'd also appreciate suggestions about where to live from anybody who knows the area.

Lots to choose from around there. I had a 2BR/2.5BA townhouse in a complex in Va Beach when I was at the RAG. I liked living there - just off Laskin, close to 264 and walking distance to the boardwalk - it was just the 45+ min drive to Norfolk I didn't care for. I could afford the rent by myself pretty easily. Seawatch Cove was the address.

As I say - lots to choose from. Take some house-hunting leave if you can and find a good rental agent who can take you around the different neighborhoods.

I'd recommend anywhere in Chick's/Shore Dr. area, especially if you have a roommate. I am in a 2BR/2BA condo near Shorebreak, a popular sports bar hangout and couldn't be happier. Our rent runs $1350. We are walking distance to the bay and a bunch of restaurants/bars, short drive through the state park to the ocean, and about 25-30 min to NS Norfolk. Flyin out of Norfolk, it's great for me b/c if I see 64 sucks (which it does), I take shore dr. all the way through OV. It'd be an easy drive for you to get to Oceana, but you also have the option of areas/neighborhoods closer to the Oceanfront that I'm not too familiar with. I'd take Chick's or the Oceanfront over Town Center/Ghent any day...

Dianah Black-Parker.. she sold my parent's first house, and helped them get their second. They have had no complaints since switching 10+ years ago. I am pretty certain she works with rentals too.

Her number is: 757-718-1675

Do you have the names of any of the condos in that area? I got the verbal that I'm headed to Little Creek this summer.

As for agents, our preferred one is Allison Creamer. She sold PSW her first house, and spent a lot of time showing us rental properties when we were moving back down. When the perfect storm happened (we couldn't sell our house in MD, and our renters here decided to vacate after 5 years), she was the one that told us she'd keep showing us houses, but that she really thought we should move into the townhouse we already owned. We took her advice, and she didn't make a dime off of all the work she put in. That's why we hired her husband (a contractor) to put in our hardwood floors. She's good people. In case you're curious, her number is: 757-652-8880
