This was recently discussed in the Advanced forum so I’ll expand here. I think this is the best deal in Meridian.
I’m currently living in the set of lofts in downtown Meridian on Front Street. I want to encourage more people to do this so that we can make something of a crowd down here. For one, it’d be a lot more fun that way – especially given the way that SNAs are spread out over this entire area. The management is willing to cut a significant deal on rent for Navy students if we are willing to come back into the area (there used to be a lot of students here, apparently). I’m already committed, but they will basically give you a deal if you are referred by me. Ask me about it.
Almost all of the lofts are two-bedroom places with either hardwood or carpet. I was impressed when I came to see them so I would definitely recommend taking a look in person. I can show you or get you in touch with the management.

Negatives:
I’ll take some pictures if I can and post them up here.

Positives:
- It’s downtown and lots of things are accessible.
- Utilities: landlord covers the trash/water. You only take the electricity.
- Comes with a washer/dryer…unlike all of the houses I looked at.
- About a block from Weidmann’s, walking distance to Echo Lounge.
- Two blocks walking distance to the Amtrak.
- Spacious: large rooms and very high ceilings.
- If you want a furnished loft, they’re available. The landlords might just let you take some furniture to use seeing as they have tons of stuff that they would otherwise store.
- The management has been very cool with other neighbors concerning the security deposit.
- Prices are very reasonable in my opinion; I’m paying less than most apartments I know of and I have way more space.
Negatives:
- You’re living about 2-3 miles farther away from base than people who sign onto one of the apartment beehives on Route 19. It takes about 16-20 minutes for me to get to base. (If you’ve been looking around town, you’ve probably resigned yourself to the fact that you won’t be living close to work).
I’ll take some pictures if I can and post them up here.
