leave at Primary

I am starting IFS this month and by my best estimate will begin primary at Whiting sometime around May. I am getting married in July and was wondering if anyone can confirm that you can get a week of leave during primary for such an occasion.

Short answer: no.

the squadron's not gonna give you time off in the middle of your training, even if it is for your wedding. I think the best you could hope for would being given the weekend off.

I think Pags has essentially hit it on the head...you will only be able to take leave during wait times that you will hit. My suggestion, either move the wedding or plan on not having a honeymoon....

Oh, and almost all the training wings for primary will give you weekends off...with a rare exception...

Don't sweat it, let your command know AS SOON AS YOU CHECK IN and keep reminding them of the date and it 'shouldn't' be a problem. I knew several studs who took leave in the middle of the syllabus to get married. Heck I took leave in the middle of advanced to attend my brothers USAF boot camp graduation.

Don't be discouraged by the above posts.

Hope for the best and keep communicating with your command and last but not least, stand by to be flexible.

You'll be able to get leave, but not a week, unless you put the paperwork in WAY ahead of time. A guy in my squadron got married during primary and they only gave him Fri-Sun off, wouldn't even give him Monday.

Best I heard at VT-28 was long weekends like greg said ... and VT-28 was the "nicer" primary squadron of TW-4 (NAS CC)

Bottom line - could happen, but the chances shrink (fast) with the more days you ask for.

So asking for 3 weeks may be out of the question? Just kidding, looking at burning leave...
