Maybe I'm missing something here, but "because it carries a magazine that can carry multiple rounds"? Do what?

My understanding is that these weapons are owned by the Koreans and therefore subject to the crazy gun import regulations obviously written by people that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

The Garands, Carbines and 03s that the CMP brings back into the US are owned by Uncle (via lend/lease etc) and aren't subject to the bullshit above
