Kicked out of the Navy?

I was just wondering if anyone had any updates on an article that was published in the Navy times in the beginning of the year. It was the article about how the Navy was kicking out officers who either didn't make it through flight school or were found medically disqualified when they took their entrance flight physical (NAMI Whammy.)

The reason I ask is becuase I am a little worried. Assuming I get selected, I am worried that the eye exam will not go so good. When I had my initial one done for the application, the doctor up at Great Lakes basically told me that he gave me a break so I would not be disqualified. I don't think they will do that down in P-Cola.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any updated info on this.

A friend of mines fiance was designated SNA and when he went to OCS (and this was very recently) but he failed his eye part of the physical. They just redesignated him NFO.

Thanks for the info. Right now I am in the STA-21 program, scheduled to graduate in December. So... I am still waiting to see if I even got accepted into flight school.

I also wondering, if I do get accepted but fail the eye exam, if the Navy would consider letting me go through the Blue to Green (Navy to Army) program.

Anyhow, thanks again for the info. There's a lot of unknowns right now, so we'll see how it all shapes up.
