Jumper's Knee

Hello, I have been training for OCC-198 and about a month ago I started getting knee pain. I went to the doctor after a couple weeks of lighter working out and was told I have Jumper's knee or patellar tendinitus. I have virtually stopped working out and have been taking ibuprofen daily for inflamation for a couple weeks with little improvement. Does anyone have any experience with this injury that could help me get back into my training regimen sooner?

I was also wondering (even though I have plenty of time to heal, I hope) if at OCS they would allow one to wear knee bands if it is a reoccuring injury? Thank you for your assistance.

had jumper's (or runner's) knee back in high school, luckily it kind of went away before I went to the academy, but honestly there isn't much you can do besides give it rest (i took off a soccer season) and follow the doc's orders (ice massage over the knee)

The bands work ok, but to be honest they are more of a temporary solution, rest is really the only thing that i found that worked. Crappy situation with OCS coming up but it could be worse...
