I received my acceptance yesterday and swore in today with an OCS start date of Jan 26. I have 17 days as of tommorrow before I report. I wasn't made aware of the Big 3 until today and I'm concerned about getting it all into my head in time. Anyone have any tips on what to start with and good techniques for memorizing things-fast!
Also, I need any advice on push-ups for these last two weeks, I've been doing them since I took my prt for my recruiter in November but at that time I barely did enough. I'm not out of shape, just a bit skinny, my run and sit-ups were good.
Also, anyone out there for the Jan 26th class, I heard most SNA's got rolled to Feb 9th. Strange that I just got word of being in the Jan 26th class?
I'm sure I'll have more questions to follow. Thanks.

Hey Josh,

First congrats on getting into OCS in january. I have heard most classes are pretty full but I do not know for sure. As for memorization what i did was say start with the orders of the sentry chart. I would say the first order about 6 times, three times reading it word for word and then 3 times from memory. I would then do that with the second general order, then after doing that I would repeat the first order. I did this for each order and by the time you get done you will have repeated it enough to have it engrained into short term memory. I did this for the General Orders of a Sentry, Chain of Command, Articles of Code of Conduct, Officer ranks (Navy, Marine) and enlisted ranks (Navy, Marine). What I also did was to repeat them from memory while going to the gym. Basically focus on one big three item at a time per day and repeat it in order, reverse the order and random order. If you can do this then you are set unless this kind of memorization does not work for you. Also repeat it out loud enough so you can hear your self saying them as it is a lot easier and will get you ready for when you do have to say them really out loud . For pushups just do as many as you can per work out to get your total number and endurance. I have not worked out in 2 weeks and I start OCS on sunday so basically today to sunday morning I am doing pushups, situps and some medium running just to get my body reused to exercise as it is too late to do a full body workout and get much benefit..Once you do get here just relax for th emost part and study the big three for a few minutes each day and you should be fine....Hope everything goes well!
