Why not? They're just waitresses.

Do you want to be the guy behind the fat stewardess who is stuck in the emergency exit? ;)

Plus its not very nice to have your elbows knocked off the arm rest by their asses when you are sleepin. Just sayin...

And then .... fat, ugly women entered the political arena and it's never been the same since ....

It used to happen here all the time -- U.S. airline stew's (not flight attendants then :)) had to pass weight/height standards on a regular basis. They were sometimes called in for a "special" weight/height check if they appeared to be bulking up ....

Some airlines had age restrictions .. i.e., you turn 31 and you're OUT. Not all, just some ...

They also could not be married. Some airlines would fire 'em if they got married while employed.

*sigh* .... civilization. I miss it. :D

My sister tried United Airlines in the 60’s. Went to school I believe in Chicago, but didn’t make the grade. I’ll leave it at that.;) (I think you had to be smart as well in those days.)

I dunno ... when I was being interviewed by my first airline -- PSA, a.k.a. "Poor Sailor Airline" out of San Dog then ... we were screened at the same time as a bunch of STEW candidates ---- and in case you are wondering, they were SoCal goddesses -- each & every one.

The only way management could pick & choose between the beautiful and extremely beautiful was to line 'em up in the hall next to the wall --- pick up a flashlight, walk the line and shine it in one ear -- if the light shinned all the way through to the wall -- they weren't hired. If it didn't -- they were ....

*sigh* ... again, civilization. :)

did anyone else read the line where it says their physical appearance contributes to their personality, and if being a bit overweight impedes your work effort, then there will be a lot of pilots who are out of jobs. would you rather have an overwieght pilot or an overweight stewardess?

Overweight pilot. You KNOW it's going to be a safe landing... because he wants to hit the bar and buffet!

Overweight (sic) has got nothing to do w/ it ... as far as pilots go -- I was told early on the best ones were gray or bald.

I laughed in my youthful ignorance ... and later became a believer. :)
