I've been registered in NKO for a long time. I've barely ever used it though. I go ahead and log in today, and lo and behold, I am an active duty Navy Ensign! I didn't know that.

What database does NKO pull its gouge from? I would have thought MCTFS, but I'm not even a 2ndLt in MCTFS yet because of a combination of Boat School's need for my date of rank to be the same as theirs and computer limitations.

So what gives? Does anybody have vis on who the man behind the curtain is at NKO? I'm wondering if the database they're pulling my bad gouge from is going to permeate into any other records.
 
No idea maybe the NROTC Database, but CONGRATULATIONS, ENSIGN! :D :D Too bad you don't get the pay and benefits. :icon_tong

I had that happen to me this year too when I went in to do a GMT. I was still a mid but they listed me as an ENS. It was the same for all of the seniors- maybe preemptive promotion in anticipation of commission this year? All of the other mids were still listed as mids though.
 
I don't even know when it changed. I was a corporal last time I logged in. We'll see what it does when MCTFS gets updated on Tuesday. DEERS gets its info from MCTFS.

As an aside, USNAs need for me to not be senior to its spring class is really wrecking my buzz. Not so much for pay, because I'll get pay backdated to my appointment date, but just the for the exercise of having to wait on them to update all of my trash.
 
It did the same thing for me too when I log in this week (ENS tiz84, so nice ^_^). I thought I was in a lucid dream at first. But knowing computer info systems, they probably think it is just easier on their IT people and the database to just put ENS on Officer Candidates early rather than sitting down an sorting through the mess of who rolled, who got commissioned, who DOR, and when etc etc for every last OC.
 
That's what we call a Chinese Promotion....strictly honorable, no pay or benefits
 
You are ruining it for the rest of us! When nrotc-land says something about NKO the MECEPS are supposed to tell them that because we are Marines, we can't create an account on it.
