I can't tie my own laces...

Gonna swallow my pride and ask since no one i've asked in person could give me a confident answer-

just picked up my first pair of boots, wanted to get used to running in boots before i go to ocs, lacing them up, get to the top, and that's where i encountered my problem: is there a uniform way to tie your laces?

i found a thread about how to lace them up, got that down (no "bridge"), but i have a lot of lace left when i get to the top of the boot. i just defaulted to looping the laces around the back of the boot once and then tying... tieing?... them.

pretty confident that i'll be taught the right way to do all this when i get there, but until then, this is the kind of dumb sh*t that keeps me up at night.

In my flight boots I leave one eyelet near the ankle open to help with the bending/stretching. I tie like a half know in the front, go around, and end up trying the laces in the back. I dunno how OCS is gonna be, but I would think as long as they're tied....

The generally accepted way is to form the bridge, then as you are looking at your boots (as you wear them), lace with the left over right. Any excess can be tied and tucked in, or wrapped around the front and tied.

It really isn't that big a deal; just find what works for you.

Gotta have the "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and left over right. They taught us that way in basic and OCS. KBay has it.

Laces out! Laces out!

(ok, this has nothing to do with boots but it was a great movie.....)

ok, got 'em laced up, went running... and don't think i'll be fit to run for at least a few days, so i'm not gonna sweat it.

it's true, you learn something new everyday. yesterday's lesson was to not b*tch about running in sneakers, because there is an entire world of suck involved with running in boots.

you realize that no one outside of OCS has ever shown a care in the world for how your shoes are tied. hell, if we could have Roo's-made flight boots, I'd be all over it.

/too old a reference for many

Too old? Uh oh. I have just been aged.

I like your idea; you can never have too many pockets. Except the bullies in the squadron will know where you keep your lunch money...
