Dear Forum,
I am going to OCS in June, however my apartment least doesn't run out until August. If I cancel the lease early, I am OUT $673, which is the amount of the deposit!! So, I looked into it, spoke to my recruiter, and there is this AWESOME act called the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act that has the ability to exempt me from my lease, and might decrease the interest rates on my credit cards to 6%!
I went to my landlord, showed him my acceptance letter, and I am getting half of my deposit back! That is MUCH better then not getting any of the deposit back! Just be friendly about it, and show them the letter!
Below are some links to the act itself and how to use it. I will keep you all posteed!
