I know there's at least 3 other 04's here around schools command, but, out of curiosity, how many others are still waiting to start API ? I have my upchit, BOLTC, and PRT/swim screen all done but I'm still wondering when we'll get this show on the road....

The only 04s around should be med holds of various types. I know of at least one 02 down there too - again he was a med hold.

They shouldn't be effecting your start date much sicne they are just random straglers (few and far between).

Actually one of the 02 guys just graduated this past week. Don't know what's the deal with 'em....Well, better start studying for Nav.

Later.

At the IFS brief last week there was a guy who is a FY02. He was in a master's program and is 5 days away from JG so yes there's all types down here still.

LT XXXXXX pulled me aside during A-pool muster yesterday and told me that I'm not being classed up "anytime soon" since some CDR wanted to class up any stragglers all in one class. Apparently I'm getting a stash job for awhile. This is ridiculous; I just wanna start already, I've got the upchit and I'm ready to go so I don't really see the point in sitting around any longer especially when they say that they're short on IFS-complete SNA's for the next few upcoming API classes.

Damn Paddle, sorry to hear that. I hope they don't make you wait till my stragglin ass comes back in August. What sucks is that if they're waiting for all of us "stragglers" then I guess that means we'll be held to the 42.5 minimum NSS.

So what's the problem with that. Our class is having to compete against a 93-94 avg to maintain that 42.5....Are you guys more special that it shouldn't apply to you. No offense but I only think it's fair that it applies to everyone, even the freakin' 05 dudes.

I would hope they hold all the remaining '04 SNAs to the 42.5 NSS. Regardless if the quota has been met, I was told that they were going to keep that standard.

Better start studying! I am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. Thinking about it drives you nuts until you finish week 4.

I understand the reason for the 42.5 NSS. So I don't see the need to hold the 05 guys to it. As for guys like me, Paddle and a few others, we're being held up for some reason. Not only did I have to wait a year just to get to Pcola, I got hit with some NAMI whammy bull**** that's holding me up till about August. I was ready to start API back in March and deal with the higher standards. Now, I just think it would be nice if I didn't have to put up with it on top of this med bull**** I'm having to deal with. If I have to, then I will; just wishful thinking more or less.

But I'm really hoping for the old standards now though, seeing how much animosity Venom has towards that idea and how unfair he seems to think it would be.

Trvsmrtn, if you would have gone through API already and worked your butt off to keep your pilot spot then you would understand that animosity. It just wouldn't be right if all of the previous '04 SNAs had to stress about getting a 42.5 and then you stragglers just had pass with an 80%. I don't care about your med hold or how long it took you to get down to Pcola. Welcome to the club! Most of us had to wait just as long as you. If you can't make the 42.5 then you really might not have the desire to remain a Navy pilot.

Whoooah there guys/girls. Lets end this little spat before it gets any worse.

It would have been nice if they figured this overmanning bit before a lot of '04 went through- that way everyone would have been held to the same standards... but such is life. Bottom line is the situation is what is now and there is nothing any of us could have done.

Paddle, trvsmrtn sorry to hear about the med hold deal. I've got some buds who are going through on the "gimp" program now (4 weeks academics, then after waiver 6 weeks of physical/survival stuff). That being said, don't expect any sympothy from anyone else.

diverkr, thats great you made the cutoff but there are a bunch of people who didn't and I don't think any of them didn't work their butt off, or wanted it any less then you did- remember that, and don't think for one second that making it and having a higher API NSS is going to make you a better aviator then those people would have been. Don't get angry because the guys who haven't gone through yet hope "they" get their magic number and stop with the 42.5 BS before they are through. Its not their fault they were on Medhold, and you would be saying the same thing in their position. I'd bet that you thought that at least once, I know I did and all of my friends did too.

Venem, '05 wasn't undermanned so they didn't need the arbitrary cuts. Don't wish the NSS cutoff on anyone just for the sake them having to go through the crap you did.

Guy's, don't let API turn you against each other... thats just unsat.

They should give out an award on this message board to the biggest whining, crying, negative, angry a$$hole Trvsmrtn would win it hands down. Someone find out who this clown is and let the world know so when he makes it to a fleet squadron (if he doesnt attrite from API) we could take care of him. If this is all news to you read his past posts and you will agree.
