i just found this forum today and all your guys knowledge is awesome (was looking up info on requirments of Aviation). lol im sure youve heard this before "i wanna be a naval aviator blah blah blah blah" yeah thats basically it.
my dad was Surface Navy his whole life basically, 32 years. what inspires me is the places he gets to visit and the stories hes told. ive always been inspired by aviation.... i think Top Gun did that to me. the first time i was in the PIC seat (Pilot in Command) was when i was seven and i was in a Cessna 172.
right now im a Junior in High School and im prepping for colleges. mostly looking at Merchant Marine then Navy Acad. with a back up for NROTC or just plain college.
i just like learning and listening to your guys experience and insight. i have a goal but truely anything that sits on a carrier deck and travels around the world, is for me.
right now im about to start flying for my Private Pilots License, now that i have a job. im in Ground school at my High School and have learned quite a bit about piloting. <<<<< i never knew there was that much to learn. but ive about aced every test and was proud to ace the Navigation section, took me 3 weeks to fully understand the VOR.
its kind of hard not to dream when surrounded by aviation lovers. one of my teachers at my old highschool (i just moved to SA tx) got accepted to go to airforce. hes training in a T-37 right now. also my dads friend is a backseater in an F-18 at Miramar in San Diego, he put me in a simulator... which only shot my ambition through the roof.
lol also having had my dad in the Navy was cool, i got a tour of an F-14 Hanger at Miramar when it was still "Top Gun"
sorry if this post comes across arrogant or unintelligent, i just want to say hi to everybody and just state why im here. i hope that one day i can all join your ranks as a Naval Aviator or NFO. basically i want to listen and learn.
