Help Planning a Trip to WI, Oshkosh, Madison, etc.

As [probably] my last pre-OCS trip, I am heading north to spend 7-10 days in Wisconsin. I know there are some current and former WI residents on this site who speak highly of their state.

I plan to spend a 3-4 days at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh. Will anyone else from this forum be there? Perhaps some NAs, or university aviation students and SNA hopefuls, will be flying in, to place their aircraft on display? Maybe we could meet for beers? Or does anyone have any advice regarding Oshkosh? I've only been to the EAA once, and would appreciate any advice to help me better enjoy the show.

I also plan to spend a few days in Milwaukee and a few days in Madison. In Milwaukee, I plan to take a Harley Davidson factory tour. In Madison, I plan to drink my share of Leinies in a college town I have heard great things about.

I'd just really appreciate some specific ideas of other things I should do on my trip. I want to have a really great time.

Thanks In Advance,
JR

From Madison, haven't been to Oshkosh in a long time. However, as far as Madison is concerned, state st. is pretty much the only place you need to go during the evening. Try any New Glarus brew, except copper kettle that stuff is crap.

It's summer.. go to the Dells! OK just kidding. As far as Milwaukee goes, I think summerfest (big music festival) is over by now, but there might be something to check out at the fairgrounds.

Theres an airport right next to the casinos. Makes for a, hopefully not quick, nice and easy trip.

It's good cape weather, cool, breezy
I went last year for a day and managed to see everthing I wanted. If I remember right there was a large AF setup and an Army Blackhawk helicopter with its crew. I don't remember any Navy or Marine aviators there exept the Blue Angels.
