I have a few guns and I was wondering if anyone knows the policy about having guns on a base? Am I going to have to sell my guns when I join or are they allowed? Thanks!

I'm in Japam and there aren't any guns allowed in this country at all. But on most bases you have to register your weapons with the MA's if you live on base. If you want to have them in your car I'm not sure if you can do that or not.

I lived in japan when i was younger..i thought that i remember military being able to have guns if they registered them and kept them at an armory? could be way off on that. thanks for the info though, figured it would be something like that. what about concealed carry permits? anyone have any experience with them and bases or is that just not gonna happen?
thanks!

I had a friend that lived on base and stored his with a friend that owned a house in the area, I'm not sure why he decided to that. This was when he was stationed at NOB Norfolk.

How does this work with guns that are now illegal in Ca? If one did not own, say a bushmaster, in Ca before 2001, one cannot bring it in. Is there an escape clause for military?

I am hoping to end up on Whidbey Island someday. While there I would like to go duckhunting in the local bays. Therefore I would need to be able to take some of my shotguns. Does that sound realistic, or am I thinking on another planet? My father said that he used to shoot trap while serving on the USS Hornet during 1966-1970.

Appreciate all the answers, pretty much answered all my questions, pretty much what I assumes it would be. Always nice to know for sure though. I guess keeping it at the armory isn't too awfully bad, suppose they could be banned altogether.
